15 Feb 2006 - Gilbert Ashley The binary package gdk-pixbuf-0.22.0-i486-1.tgz found in this directory is a replacement package for the Slackware gdk-pixbuf package. The Slackware package lacks some headers and libraries needed by some programs -mainly gnome_canvas-pixbuf related. In the Resources directory is a MANIFEST which lists the files installed by the package. Plus, there is the full source code -already compiled so you can see what's in there. As you can see from the PkgBuild script, no special options are used to produce the extra files. They come about from being compiled with gnome-libs already installed. The Slackware gdk-package included these extra files when GNOME-1.4 was used. Without these extra headers and libraries, some software can not be compiled. A good example is GnuCash. You'll need gnome canvas pixbuf headers and libs for it to compile and run. If you want to compile your own and produce the extra libs, be sure to compile/install or install these packages first: libxml oaf orbit gnome-libs Then compile gdk-pixbuf to get the full package.
